昭和5(1930)年に着工、同8(1933)年に完成した道路橋。大正時代以降、全国で自動車交通のための道路が整備されていく中、国道2号線（現3号線）の一部として建築されました。
　鉄筋コンクリート造七連アーチ橋で、長さ204.1ｍ、幅25.2ｍ。7つの扁平アーチが連続する外観に、半円形の付柱とバルコニー、親柱頂部の半球など、古典的な装飾をバランス良く配置した、長大で、かつ均整のとれた優美なデザインが特徴です。
　かつては名島に設置された水上飛行場と福岡中心部を結ぶ役割も果たしました。国道の全国的な展開と、近代福岡の発展を象徴する壮大な道路橋であり、「国土の歴史的景観に寄与しているもの」として、平成30年に国の有形文化財に登録されています。

A road bridge whose construction began in Shōwa 5 (1930) and was completed in Shōwa 8 (1933). As motor-road networks were being developed nationwide from the Taishō era onward, it was built as part of National Route 2 (now Route 3).
This is a seven-span reinforced-concrete arch bridge, 204.1 meters long and 25.2 meters wide. Its long yet well-proportioned and graceful design features a sequence of seven flat arches, with classical embellishments arranged in balance—semicircular attached pilasters and balconies, and hemispheres crowning the main newel posts.
The bridge once also served to link the seaplane base located in Najima with central Fukuoka. As a grand road bridge symbolizing the nationwide rollout of national highways and the growth of modern Fukuoka, it was registered in 2018 as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan as an object that “contributes to the historic landscape of the nation.”
